It has been 11 years since the arrival of the Czech automobile producer in the country. Rapid and all the other models in Skoda’s portfolio have brought a high on its sales volume this year. Skoda’s sales figure for the month of September 2012 was 2312 units. The company had sold 1670 units during the month of September 2011. About 39% increase is noted in monthly sales when the months from two years are compared. Total sales estimate of the months January to September, 2012 in comparison with the corresponding months of 2011 indicated 30% growth in sales volume in the current year over the previous.
While speaking about the increase in sales the Managing Director of Skoda Auto India, Mr. Sudhir Rao expressed his happiness and said that the company is confident about its strategy in India and is expecting to gain more during the festive season which is days away.
The company has added few variants to Rapid which is a mid range sedan model. Ambition Plus and Active Plus are additions to the already existing variants namely Ambition, Active and Elegance. The additional variants bring in some comfort and convenience features thereby providing the customers with more options from which a choice can be made.
Skoda is also aiming to spread its network across the country. At present there are 106 dealerships of Skoda in India. The company wants to have 95 service stations spread in the country by the end of this year.
