With the completion of one year of the launch of XUV500, Mahindra has increased production capacity of the SUV by 5000 units per month. More than 35000 units of Mahindra XUV500 are sold after its launch which happened a year ago. The company claims that there are more than 14000 units of XUV500 booked and yet to be delivered as of end of September 2012. In India Mahindra XUV500 has a market share of about 60% in the category of high end SUVs.
XUV500 is a car that gets its inspiration from Cheetah and it is a matter of pride that this high end SUV was designed in India. This car has been successful not only in India but also in Australia and South Africa. The company has plans to introduce the large Cheetah to Europeans soon. Mahindra has also worked on improvising the models released in India and all wheel drive system will be a part of this upcoming Mahindra SUV.
The success story of Mahindra XUV500 is not limited only to the consumers in India. The SUV has received appreciation from car critiques and awards from various automobile magazines in the country. ‘Car of the year’, ‘SUV of the year’ and ‘Best value for money car’ are some of the titles it has received for the year 2011 from Zigwheels, Top Gear Magazine, Auto Car India and other websites.
