Pak Suzuki Looks For Indian Auto Parts To Restart Alto Production

By Motortrend India Staff   |   19 November,2012

Pak Suzuki Motor Company has approached government of Pakistan to receive permission for import of Alto car parts from India. The parts of Alto which were imported earlier had been put in the negative list. This had forced the company to stop production of this car when it changed all its models to meet Euro II standards. Suzuki Alto manufactured in Pakistan could not meet these standards because Complete Knock Down (CKD) kits required for Euro II were manufactured only in India.

The association which represents auto industries in Pakistan PAAPAM (Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers) has also stressed on the necessity of removing Alto car parts from negative list. It has explained the government on how the stop of production of Alto cars has affected employment rate and economy of automotive industry.

India is the only country which is producing auto car parts and cars that meet Euro II standards in South East Asia. Alto car in India has been one of the cars with highest sales figures.
