Responding to the market situation in Europe following the crisis, Renault is trying to focus on low cost models for the current situation. The company also has plans for growing markets like India, where there is rapid increase in demand.
Indian markets can expect few models from the French car maker in the following years. With high competition in car prices in India, Renault and its Japanese ally Nissan are developing a model of price range Rs 5 lakh. The car will be produced in Chennai, India and could hit the market by 2014.
The company also has plans to make an entry level hatchback to compete with Tata Nano, Hyundai Eon and Maruti Suzuki 800 Alto. Both Nissan and Renault would be working on this model. The company had released Renault Scala few months ago which has most of its design aspects similar to Nissan Sunny. Renault had given a distinguishable front grille to Scala which was the highlight in this premium sedan car.
