Ford India has plans to make the country a major exporter of its cars and engines. As of now Ford Figo, the most popular hatchback of the American auto crafter is exported to about 35 countries from India. The company also said that it would be shipping about 2,40,000 engine units manufactured in India. Ford Eco Sport, the compact SUV which will come out to market next year will also be shipped from the country.
Joginder Singh will be taking up the role of President and Managing Director of Ford India from December 1st 2012. Michael Boneham who has been the MD and President of Ford Motors India for the past five years had announced his retirement in the month of October. The new MD said that the company has new plans which includes launch of 8 Ford cars in India within next few years. The company is also aiming at expanding its dealership network in the country, since there would be increase in production with the erection of a new Ford plant in Gujarat.
