SKODA Auto India achieved tremendous growth of 13% per cent in 2012 despite tough market conditions. The cumulative sales for the year 2012 numbered 34,678 as against 30,741 in the year 2011.
Mr Sudhir Rao, Managingp Director, Škoda Auto India said, “Despite challenging market conditions, Škoda India achieved growth of 13% on the strength of our strong product line-up. Škoda Rapid steered our sales for this year and will continue to be one of our prime offerings in the year ahead. We are confident that the Škoda range of products, anchored by our class-leading Škoda Superb at the top end and the acknowledged high-quality and value-for-money Škoda Fabia at the bottom end will continue to grow from strength to strength. Our approach for 2013 is to continue the focus on improving Škoda’s performance in all areas of business in order to enhance the experience our customers have with Škoda products and services”.
The Skoda Rapid contributed to the steady sales for the auto maker throughout 2012. The new variant, celebrating its first anniversary in India received positive response from automobile experts and its buyers.
Despite slowing down economic growth and low demands in automobile industry, ŠKODA India maintained its course and progressed steadily. The other cars are Superb, Laura, Yeti and Fabia, which have been making great contribution to the sales of the company.
The company has been operating in India, since November 2001, as a subsidiary of ŠKODA Auto a. s. Czech Republic (Volkswagen Group), one of the fastest growing car manufacturers in Europe. The company’s India division is working on their dealership network and after-sales service to enhance customer at the same time reaching out to larger section of customers across the nation. The company has increased service footprints across the country with 89 service outlets functional in 2012 to complement the 106 sales outlets.
