The leader of Indian luxury car segment, BMW, has increased the prices of its cars for 2013. The German automobile manufacturer said that the new prices will be applicable on all BMW and Mini cars which are sold from 1st January 2013. The auto maker has made its products pricier by up to 6% of its previous cost.
The company sells around 16 cars with BMW brand label. They have coupe, roadsters, sedans and SUVs in their portfolio. The price of these models falls between Rs 29 lakh and Rs 1.5 crore. Customers who buy these cars in 2013 will pay Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh higher than what they had to pay in 2012.
Mini brand currently sells four models in the country namely, Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper Convertible and Cooper Countryman. These models have a price range of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 32.5 lakh. Speaking about the revised prices, Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President of BMW Group India said,” We want to maintain sustainable leadership in the Indian market with a strong brand and an exceptional model range with unbeatable product substance. With the price increase, BMW Group will maintain its premium positioning in the Indian luxury car segment.”
As per a survey conducted by mobile video web company, Vuclip, in 2012, the company stood as the favorite luxury car brand to people. The company bet big names like Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Mercedes-Benz and Audi in India.
