Gujarat Plant of Maruti Suzuki May Start Operation in 2015

The new plant of Maruti Suzuki based at Mehsana, Gujarat may start operation in 2015. The plant worth Rs. 4,000 crore has 700 acres in Bechraji allotted for its establishment. The annual production capacity of this facility will be 2.5 lakh units. This new industry increases the overall production volume of Maruti Suzuki to 20 lakh units.

Speaking about the starting of new production facility, Mr. S Y Siddiqui said, “The Bechraji unit will manufacture 2,50,000 cars per annum, while two other plants of the company located at Gurgaon and Manesar in Haryana have been manufacturing 17.5 lakh car per annum. With Becharaji unit, total production of cars of the company will go up to 20 lakh per year.”

Mr. Siddiqui also spoke about increase in demand for diesel cars and said that there is need for balance between prices of petrol and diesel fuels in the country. He also commented on the decline in demand, pointing out at increase in interest rates and increase in fuel prices as reasons for the condition.

The auto giant will be starting off new institutes in Gujarat which provides technical training in industrial field. These institutes can help the company in developing skilled employees for its operation.

The Chairman of Suzuki Motor Company, Osamu Suzuki visited Gujarat in August, 2012. The auto maker is aiming to make more investments in India and has set special plans for it.
