Tata Motors is all set to trap the huge Indian automobile market with its launch of a new version Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) – Safari Storme. The latest version is priced between Rs. 10.4 and Rs. 14.12 lakh.
Commenting on the launch, Tata Motors utility vehicle product group head, Ashesh Dhar said, "We are looking at a permanent role in the SUV market... We at present have a 12 per cent market share and we are definitely seeing it increase".
The organization has sold around 16,000 Tata Safaris in the last fiscal. He added the SUV market is growing at an astounding rate of 50 percent. The automobile market is growing around 6-7 percent.
The latest automobile is powered by a 2.2 litre DiCOR engine that produces 140 bhp of power at 4,000 rpm and 320 Nm of maximum torque at 1,700-2,700 rpm. Safari Storme has considerably improved in all aspects. The vehicle brings excellent driving experience, smoother gearbox, enormous space and comfort and higher speed.
Tata’s Safari Storme will try to win the market share with other competitors – Mahindra & Mahindra’s Scorpio and XUV 500 and Renault’s Duster, launched recently.
