BMW continues its journey in Indian market with good momentum. The company sold 9,375 cars in 2012. BMW 3 and 5 Series and the crossover vehicle X1 were top-sellers for the auto brand. The 5 Series and 3 Series saloons had sales of 2,788 and 2,618 units respectively and the crossover SUV, X1 had sales of 2,461 units.

The luxury carmaker plans to bring new cars and facelift versions to Indian market in 2013. Standing in top of the list is the luxury hatch 1 Series. The facelift models include the X1 and the 7 Series which the company wants to produce in India.
The plant located at Chennai produces 3 Series, 5 Series, X1 and X3 models. Some cars from BMW marque are imported as Completely Built-up Units. The 6 Series models, 7 Series, M3 Coupe, M6 Coupe are some models which come as CBU in the country.
There are about 33 showrooms of the company which are based in 25 cities of the country. The auto maker aims to increase this number to 55 in the years to come.
