Gulf Oil Corporation is all set to host its much-lauded, much-worthy fun social event for underprivileged orphans — “Gulf Foster a Child Car Drive” on Makar Sankranti, January 13th, 2013. Now in its 11th year, the event will flag off from Our lady’s Home in Parel at 9.00 IST in the morning and end at Hotel Duke’s Retreat, in Khandala, at around 14.00 IST. Gulf Oil has also planned a special Kite Flying event for the kids, besides several other exciting gaming activities.
Organized by Mumbai based Sportscraft, the event was primarily initiated to bring a smile on the faces of the deprived children and to sensibilise the nation to the plight of these orphans.
Each rally team would consist of a driver, a navigator, a child as well as one an underprivileged child. Based on a unique combination of navigational expertise and common knowledge, the driver and his team will have to work out a route chart (Tulip chart) as well as solve several puzzles on their way to the final destination.
Talking about the event Mr. Ravi Chawla said, “The children from these orphanages do not get the luxuries of life. Makar Sankranti, being such a joyous and family-oriented festival, we wanted to give a family to these kids, a day full of cheer and happiness. Looking at all these years, we know our efforts have paid off when look at the happy faces of the children.”
“We see these kids all year wishing for comforts so many other children are blessed with. We are very thankful to Gulf Oil for initiating such an activity and partnering with us, giving our kids a sense of family. We hope to be associated with many such activities and give each child what they deserve”, said Rev. Fr. Rui Comelo - Our lady’s Home.
Only the first 70 entries will be accepted. Apart from five prizes for the overall winners, there will also be prizes for all-ladies’ team and best decorated car.
