Indian automobile major, Tata has come across a downward trend in its sales during the month of December 2012. The big brand with all its subsidiaries, which include Jaguar Land Rover Group, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera, sold 98,968 vehicles in the month when compared to 1,14,920 units which were sold in same month previous year. The JLR group had monthly sales output of 32,282 units, in December 2012.
The passenger vehicle sales contributed majorly in this decline of Tata. The company registered overall monthly sales of 46,925 cars in passenger vehicle segment when compared to 61,066 units sold in same month of 2011. The decline is about 23 percent in this segment. The company witnessed a decline of 3 percent in the commercial vehicle segment where it sold 52,083 units in December, last year.
The Jaguar Land Rover Group had global wholesales of 34,649 cars in November month, previous year. The yearly sales for JLR group in 2012 have hiked by up to 30 percent when compared to 2011. It is also notable that the big brand, Tata made its entry into the car market of our neighbor, Bangladesh in November, last year. It currently sells Indigo eCS, Indigo Manza and Indica Vista in the Bangladeshi market.
The company will be introducing an 800 cc Nano to Indians within one year from now. This will position the micro car against small cars of Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki. Aggressive advertising campaigns and makeovers have placed Nano in a good position in the market. The New Nano will not only add a new competitor to other small cars, but will also expand market presence of Tata in passenger vehicle segment.
