Renault has started off its 2013 journey in positive terms by selling 4,914 cars during the month of January. The French car manufacturer had sold 885 cars during the same month of 2012. Comparing the two periods, it is notable that the growth in sales for the French motor company stands up to 455 percent. The sales figures of the company have seen steady growth after the launch of its prime mid-size SUV Duster.
Renault Duster has bagged about 25 awards and a big list of accolades which include NDTV Car of the Year and Compact SUV of the Year 2012 and People’s Choice Car of the Year from Vicky.in. The auto maker has been successful in expanding the presence of premium saloon Scala and the hatchback Pulse in the car market.
Speaking about the performance of the company, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Renault India Pvt. Ltd said, “2012 was a year of growth for Renault India, with over 35,000 units sold across the nation as well as starting the export of the Duster. The New Year is now all set to see us continue this drive with strong domestic sales in January. The mounting number of awards we have won both as a company and for our products is also a reflection of the rising confidence among both customers and industry experts about Renault in India.”
Major part of sales for the company was through Duster models which came up to 3,554 units. Sales of Pulse, Scala and Fluence and Koleos came up to 403 units, 812 units, 108 units and 37 units respectively.
