The American auto manufacturer is all set to make it big in India this year. The company has increased its production output from 2.25 lakh units per annum to 2.5 lakh units per annum. Both the Talegaon and Halol facilities of the GM have escalated their capacities.
A week ago the auto maker launched the compact sedan – SAIL, with a very competitive price tag. The car is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The company launched the car at a price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The top-end variant of this executive car is priced at Rs 7.51 lakh. The company is aiming to sell about 48,000 units of SAIL this year.
GM will also be rolling out its MPV – Enjoy, in the next few months. Company officials have told that pre-production trial runs for Chevrolet Enjoy have been done. The car may have a 1.4L petrol and 1.3L Multijet diesel engine in its options list. Being launched in the most competitive segment, the Chevrolet Enjoy may be priced in the range Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh. With the launch of these two customer centric models, General Motors is targeting sales growth in Indian market this year.
