Daimler to Manufacture FUSO Trucks in India for Export Markets

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler AG, which currently manufactures trucks under the brand name BharatBenz, is all set to produce vehicles under FUSO brand at its Chennai plant. These trucks will be sold in Asian and African markets which include countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and Taiwan markets.

The manufacturer is focusing on strengthening its presence in Asia and Africa by increasing sales in different markets in the years to come. Daimler India is aiming to achieve sales target of more than 7 lakh vehicles by 2020. To achieve this target the manufacturer is prepared to increase production by incorporating new production facilities into its list. FUSO Trucks are currently produced at Kawasaki, Japan by Mitsubishi FUSO Truck and Bus Corporation which is a subsidiary of Daimler AG. In India, these vehicles may share the production facility with BharatBenz. These products under brand FUSO, which will be manufactured at DICV’s Chennai facility, are expected to be unveiled during the month of May, 2013.
