Amidst tough market conditions in European nations, BMW has posted a growth of 6.8% during the month of April 2013 by selling 1,55,419 vehicles during the month. America and Asian markets have played a key role in this achievement of the group which comprises of Mini, BMW, Rolls Royce and BMW Motorrad brands. With introduction of cars like the 3 Series Gran Turismo the auto marque is expecting the growth trend to continue during the year.
The brand, BMW registered an increase in sales by 7.5% during the month by selling 1,30,598 vehicles. The X1, the 3 Series, the 3 Series Touring and the 5 Series topped the sales chart for the brand with sales hike of 14.8%, 16%, 104.6% and 11.9% respectively. The motorcycle wing of the German group, BMW Motorrad came out with sales increase of 11.5% during the month by selling 14,587 vehicles worldwide. Brand MINI had its sales improved by 3.3% after it sold 24,581 cars in April, 2013.
It is notable that BMW Motorrad and TVS recently came up with an agreement to manufacture sub-500 cc motorcycles for India and other markets in Asia. Products from this collaboration are expected to come out in 2015. The entry of BMW’s motorcycle wing into Indian automotive space will introduce bike consumers to newer technologies and for the German marque, India can be one of those growth drivers since the country holds the largest two-wheeler market in the world today.
