Toyota Motor Corporation has announced that its China wing Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (TMCI) will lease specially equipped vehicles for elderly and physically challenged people on trial basis in Shanghai and Beijing, in June 2013 for 18 months (approx.). The project is launched with an eye on creating future demand for the special vehicles in the Chinese market.
Five specially equipped “Alphard” and “Hiace” vans will be leased free of charge to the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau and Riei (Beijing) Co., Ltd. These vehicles will be used to transport people who used adult day-care services. The trial of these equipped vehicles will also help to evaluate the demand of such vehicles in the Chinese market.
The China International Exhibition of Rehabilitation, Nursing & Healthcare to be held during May 16 – May 18 in Shanghai, will also exhibit the special vehicles produced by Toyota Motor Corporation. The auto brand will use the exhibition as a platform to provide complete information about safe and comfortable mobility to elders and people who need extra support.
With the trial launch of these special vehicles Toyota has stick to its vision of contributing to the welfare of society through automobiles production.
