Maruti is back with the 5th edition of Maruti Suzuki Autocar Young Driver 2013 to hunt the best young driver in India. Maruti brings this innovative concept to promote the culture of safe driving among drivers in India.
Every year, the winner of the contest is not only crowned the Maruti Suzuki – Autocar Young Driver Ambassador for safe driving but also takes home a brand new Alto 800! Elaborating further on the concept of the event Mr Mayank Pareek, COO (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India says, “Maruti has always believed in promoting responsible driving. Young driver provides a platform to every young individual to showcase their skills of being a safe driver. We are dedicated to promoting the culture of safe driving through communication programmes, IDTRs (Institute of Driving Training & Research) and Maruti Driving School MDSs. In fact this programme tests the skills of the contestants in the facilities provided by the Maruti Driving schools across the country. Tests are conducted in MDSs across 44 cities. The participants also undertake simulator tests there. In fact the Maruti Driving schools are the state of the art driving schools in the country. Maruti Driving Schools were the first to introduce advanced driving training simulator for better judgment and concept of route maps for holistic on-road practice. They have a widespread presence of around 280 schools in over 150 cities across India.”
Throughout the last four years, the event has been immensely successful and has also been endorsed by Regional Traffic & Government Bodies. Speaking on this edition of the contest, Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor, Autocar India says, “Autocar India has always strived hard to promote road safety and safer driving habits and this year the contest will involve more engaging activations such as Safety Saturdays, campus visits and mall promotions to ensure that we target the youth all over the country and motivate them to participate in this contest.” The competition this year will be bigger and better with celebrity presence in all activities right from the beginning. The winner’s journey will also be glorified through various promotional activities leading up to the next edition of the contest.

The Autocar Young Driver 2013 contest will take place in four phases 1) Log on to www.youngdriver.in or via Facebook.com to take the Online Theory Test in the form of a quiz. The last date for this phase is 28th June 2013. 2) Skill test to be conducted across 44 cities in India. This phase will start on 4th July 2013 and will be held till 28th July 2013. 3) The 20 finalists will be flown in to Delhi for the Grand Finale where they will be evaluated on 20 parameters pertaining to safety, vehicle control, theory knowledge and its application while driving. 4) The winner will be crowned the ‘Maruti Suzuki – Autocar Young Driver of the year 2013’, he/she will also become the Ambassador of Safe Driving and will take home a brand new Alto 800!
