Honda India shined even when the auto market has experienced lacklustre growth in May, 2013. Leaving behind Tata Motors and Toyota (Until now was in the fourth position) with its amazing sales of 11, 342 units in May. Honda’s sales have been upbeat since the launch of its first diesel car Amaze in India. Of the total vehicles sold, Honda Amaze alone contributed sales of 6,036 units.
In May, Honda stood at the fourth place following Maruti (1st Place), Hyundai (2nd Place) and Mahindra & Mahindra (3rd Place). However, keeping up with the demand of Honda cars may be challenging as the company does not have sufficient production capacity. The Greater Noida factory manages to produce 10,000 units of cars per month. The company has expedited work at the Tapukara in Alwar, Rajasthan, to launch three new vehicles next year, in the Indian market.
Jnaneswar Sen, Senior VP (sales & marketing) at Honda Cars India says: "We are on a strong comeback in the market." He further added, "Our strong numbers in May are not a one-month fluke, and we are confident that these volumes are maintainable and can be grown further as we get more capacity and products."
