After a span of 32 years the brand Datsun is all set to bring back the brand in emerging markets like India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa. The world premiere of the brand will be held on 15th July, 2013, at the Kingdoms of Dreams in Delhi. The new Datsun, will be a five-door hatch under sub-4 lakh category and is expected to be unveiled by Global CEO of Renault-Nissan, Carlos Ghosn.
The new Datsun model is aiming the increasing middle-class in India. The company expects to sell 1.5 – 2 lakh units annually. With the launch of the new Datsun model, the auto major expects to meet its ambitious plan of “Nissan Power 88”, which aims to increase profit margins and global market share up to 8 percent by 2016. Vincent Cobee, corporate vice president, Datsun Business Unit said: "India is a tough market and it's not going to be a picnic for us, but we believe Datsun can crack it with modernity and a superior product."
The Datsun model is expected to feature a hexagonal grille and likely to come with outstanding design without compromising on practicality aspect of the car. The auto car is likely to be lighter than Micra. Codenamed as K2, the Datsun car will be available only in petrol version. The hatchback is expected to hit the Indian shores by mid-2014.
