Leader in the three-wheeler market, Bajaj Auto is likely to launch its RE60 (a four-wheeler passenger vehicle) by the end of this fiscal year. The RE60 was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2012, in January. With the introduction of the new RE60, a new segment will be added in the Indian auto industry.
The RE60 is a lightweight 4-wheeler vehicle manufactured for intra-city commuting. RC Maheshwari, president, sales and marketing commercial vehicles, Bajaj Auto told: "The draft gazette notification (for the four-wheeled vehicle) has gone to the law ministry. After the law ministry, it will get published in the government papers. After that comments will be invited from people." He further added, "Till then we cannot launch this product. We hope that between October and March this year. Somewhere between that period we should be able to launch the product RE 60."
Bajaj Auto, is a name to be reckoned with in the three-wheeler market in India. With the launch of the new RE60, the company wants to extend its portfolio in the four-wheeler commercial vehicle segment. The company’s commercial vehicles sales stood at 41,205 units, as compared to 26,785 units sold in the same period last year.
