JLR Reports Higher Sales in the First Six Months of 2013

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), leading manufacturer of luxury car from United Kingdom has sold 2,10,190 vehicles during the first half of 2013. It recorded higher sales of 14 percent in comparison to last year first six months sales performance. This increase in sales is supported by June’s positive sales, which was up by 7 percent worldwide. Jaguar Land Rover has been named Responsible Business of the Year by Business in the Community (BITC).

JLR’s June year-to-date sales were up in every major region: North America up 13%, Europe up 6%, Asia Pacific up 26%, Overseas up 18%, and China Region both up 16%. Phil Popham, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director, commenting on the half year performance said: “It is very encouraging to see both our Jaguar and Land Rover brands delivering strong sales performances across our 178 markets. New model introductions have been incredibly well received with the all-new Range Rover retailing more than 22,000 units since launch.” “The F-TYPE which received a rapturous reception from media during its global launch last month is off to an excellent start with new customers and will go on sale in China this month”.

Jaguar half yearly retail sales are up by 29 percent. Jaguar sold 8,000 units in China in the first half of 2013, surpassing 2012’s full year total sales. Jaguar sales were up by 59% to record best June sales performance since 2006. The F-TYPE sold 1,000 units in June alone. The first half of 2013 records 29% higher sales, selling 37,636 vehicles. Jaguar sales performance in June was tremendous in all major regions: Asia Pacific up 24%, Overseas up 13%, China up 102%, North America up 64% and UK up by 16%. However, Europe sales were down by 5% owing to difficult economic trading conditions in some markets.

Land Rover records half yearly sales up by 11 percent. Markets like India, Brazil, Russia and South Africa reports exceptional sales performance and growth continues across Asia Pacific and Overseas. US record first six months in the history of the brand retailing 22,984. In June, Land Rover sold 27,165 vehicles which were up by 2%, Freelander 2 sales higher by 13% and Discovery 4 up by 9%.
