Nissan all-new Datsun 'Go' hatch unveiled at its grand global comeback after three decades, held in Gurgaon, India. The Datsun Go is a five-door hatchback with the capacity to accommodate 5 people comfortably. It is likely to be released in the beginning of 2014. The new hatch Go is inspired from the Datsun's first name - DAT-GO, launched almost 100 years ago. Nissan Motors has three brands - Datsun, Nissan and Infiniti.
Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Motor President and CEO, commented on the occasion: “This is a historic day for Nissan Motor Company and for our customers and partners in some of the world’s fastest-growing markets. It’s also an exciting moment for many women and men here in India who – today – come one step closer to realising the dream of purchasing a car."
The new Go will be another addition in the competitive range of hatchback cars in India. Under its hood, the car carries 1.2L engine to deliver decent performance and mileage. Go will also hit the South African market by the second half of 2014. Nissan-Datsun targets to capture 10 percent of auto market share by 2016 in India, which at present is a little over 1.2 percent. Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn told: "Datsun will help many realise the dream of a car ownership.” The new Go will compete against next-gen i10 Hyundai and YL7 Maruti Suzuki.
