Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award 2013 Receives Huge Registrations

Indian urban auto consumers across the nation are becoming more aware of the importance of Sustainable Mobility and this has become evident from the huge number of registrations Volvo has received for the Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award 2013. The award now in its third year has garnered huge response from NGOs, organisations, and institutions.

Volvo Buses India has called for entries from stakeholders who are working in the broad area of sustainable mobility. The award recognise initiatives such as pedestrian safety & urban planning, bus travel to metro & commuter rail, and non-motorised transport options, though not limited only to the mentioned aspects. Volvo Buses’ main objective for such initiatives is to impart better quality of life by offering sustainable mobility options to people in urban India.

The Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award was instituted in the year 2011, aiming at rewarding practical and progressive actions, in the area of promoting sustainable urban mobility solutions. The award carries prize money of INR 1 million including first prize of INR 700,000 and INR 300,000 for the runner-up. All efforts made in the area of sustainable mobility by organisations, individuals or groups are eligible to register for the award. However, organisations who are involved with operating or manufacturing public transport as part of their business are not eligible for the main award. Applicants are requested to prepare the report as per the specified format - Define the project with a clear objective, Purpose and scope of the project, Achievements till date, Next steps planned, References and CV of the group or individuals involved. Last date of registration for the award is 31st August, 2013 and last submission date for final entries is 1st September, 2013.
