BMW i3 Unveiled in Three Major Cities Across the World

The German auto major, BMW has unveiled its first electric vehicle BMW i3 in three major cities, London, New York and Beijing, on 29th July, 2013. The auto maker will start production of this car in next few months and it will hit the European market in November 2013 and the U.S market and other global markets in early 2014.

BMW i3 has a range of 130 km to 160 km which can extend up to 300 km with a range extender on board. This range extender is a 34 hp two-cylinder motor that comes as optional equipment. The lightweight construction of i3 is a major advantage which benefits its performance and range extension. The curb weight of the car is 1195 kg and it can do 0-100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds. Maximum speed for the i3 is limited to 150 km/h to save energy.

BMW i3 will have a basic price tag of 34,950 Euros in Germany and the model with the range extender will be priced at 39,450 Euros.
