In a historical moment for the company, Ford India has sold 12,338 units (domestic wholesales & export) in July 2013 which is the best-ever monthly sales figure in the company's history. As compared to July 2012 domestic wholesales volumes, the auto maker has recorded 26 percent higher sales in July this year.
The recently launched Ford EcoSport which has received 30,000 bookings in just 17 days of its launch has contributed to better sales momentum in the grim market conditions. Even in the export division, Ford India has recorded an impressive growth of 114% year-on-year, selling 4,471 units from 2,087 units last year.
Vinay Piparsania, executive director, Marketing, Sales and Service said: “Despite the near-term difficulty in the economy, our customers have put their trust in the urban SUV EcoSport, and with the Figo ranking as the best premium compact car in the prestigious J.D. Power India vehicle dependability study 2013, we are delighted to achieve the highest-ever sales in our history this month. It’s encouraging to see customers visit our showrooms, ready to experience new emerging segments that are driving growth.”
To handle the increased export vehicle volume more efficiently, the company has inaugurated a dedicated car parking yard at the Chennai port. Mr. Vinay Piparsania concluded, “With Chennai strongly positioned as a regional export hub for Ford, we are excited to register the highest-ever exports too and are hopeful that the Chennai-built vehicles will satisfy customers in international markets.”
