Audi's answer to the wave of new entry-level luxury segment offerings by rivals will be the base version of its hot selling Q3 SUV. Instead of launching its A3 hatch, Audi will instead wait till next year for launching the A3 sedan and for now will be launching the Q3 Sport with an aggressive price.
The big news regarding this new base variant Q3 is that it is ditching the famous Quattro four-wheel drive and going front-wheel drive for obvious cost reasons. Also it will have a manual gearbox which is interesting as normally till now luxury car-makers have shunned the manual gearbox in India. The new Q3 S will also have a features cut and a less powerful diesel engine on offer. Unlike the rest of the Q3 range there will not be a petrol option.
The big question is of course the price and we expect it to start at Rs 25 lakh which will no doubt tempt buyers. So it seems that the entry-level luxury car wars are hotting up now.
