After removing the Octavia name from its portfolio three years ago the Czech car maker is back with this name once again to thrill the Indian consumers purely through its form, elegance and luxury. The third generation Octavia, which has been on sale in Europe since January 2013, will be officially unveiled in India on 9th of August, 2013 i.e. today. The market launch of this grand saloon in India will take place in the months to come during the festive season.
The new generation Octavia which has been designed by Jozef Kaban has grown in width, length and has its wheelbase increased by 108 mm compared to Skoda Laura (which is actually the 2nd generation Octavia in other markets). We can also expect the interior to be furnished with new equipment and the fit and finish to be finer compared to the Laura. Use of high-strength steel in building the body has reduced weight of the car and hence fuel economy and performance of the car can be better than older version. The car is equipped with around 9 airbags, lane assistance and fatigue detection system and it will help position the car strongly against tough contenders in the luxury saloon segment.
