The Camry is one of the most popular saloons from Toyota’s world-wide product line-up and in India it has been on sale for quite some time now. Now however Toyota is set to come out with the hybrid version of the Camry in the Indian market. The Japanese auto major is willing to showcase its technological innovation in the field of hybrid vehicles through this launch. Toyota sells Prius, which is a full hybrid electric vehicle, in India with a price tag of Rs. 31.42 lakh in Delhi for Z6 variant. However the hybrid version of grand sedan Camry will have a more powerful drivetrain compared to Prius and hence it is expected to come out at a price of Rs. 36 lakh.

Toyota has retained the petrol motor which is currently used in Camry but has altered it to work with a 44 bhp electric motor. The 2.5L petrol motor has an output of 158 bhp and the combined output for this drivetrain will be 202 bhp which is good enough for a large size luxury saloon like Camry. The hybrid sedan will work on different modes where driver can choose between electric motor or petrol engine or combined output to drive the wheels.

Toyota has also worked on improvising the interior by making it more luxurious by adding more features. The spacious cabin has a 3-zone AC and cooling option for front seats. Reclining option for the seats gives a better seating posture and makes every drive more joyful. Overall the Camry hybrid actually combines luxury plus efficiency and we are eager to see, how it will do in the Indian market.
