Having seen tough competition from all sides this year Maruti is planning to launch a slew of new products in India over the next year. The first of which will be launching in a few days and by that we mean the launch of the new WagonR Stingray. A website is up and running (marutisuzukistingray.com) and within a few days there will be yet another new Maruti small car. While the name might be linked to a great American sports car the recipe is quite clever and Maruti intends to position it as a premium hatch.
By the word premium we mean it will be positioned a notch above the WagonR and is for those who love the practicality of the current WagonR but crave for better features and yes not to mention better looks. When it comes to looks the WagonR Stingray sports a new front end and has no similarity to the current WagonR. The new slim headlights are sharp plus the chrome grille will surely go down well with its customers. The new front bumper and new fog lamps also add to the funkiness. This surely looks better than the current WagonR.
However from the side and the rear (new tail-lamps aside), the styling is quite similar to the current WagonR. The interior will also be quite similar to the current WagonR but with more features and a more premium looking all black colour scheme thrown in. The same story is with the engine which means the same 68 bhp K-series engine will be there (no bad thing). Pricing is key and we do not think the WagonR Stingary will too expensive and probably it will be having a Rs 40,000 premium over the current WagonR. Sounds like a good deal then.
