By   |   21 August,2013

Review updated with price and specs!

Yup, it’s yet another small car from the Maruti stables and it seems while the line-up of Maruti small cars is already bulging the question is whether the WagonR Stingray will be able to sting the competition. The big small car revealed among the many big launches this year has been the Datsun GO which surely had made Maruti put on its thinking caps.

The WagonR Stingray is thus meant to appeal to people who would normally shun the WagonR thanks to its looks. So in essence it’s the WagonR you know which has been to the beauty parlour. Read on to know more about this car in our exclusive first look review.

Maruti WagonR Stingray Looks

At the front is where the majority of the changes lie. When it comes to looks the WagonR Stingray sports a new front end and has no similarity to the current WagonR. The new slim headlights are sharp and gel with the overall styling plus the chrome grille will surely go down well with its customers. The new front bumper and new fog lamps also add to the funkiness. This surely looks better than the current WagonR. Move to the rear and you will see new tail-lamps plus an obligatory dose of chrome. There are five colours to choose from.

Maruti WagonR Stingray Interior

The interior is similar to the current WagonR but with more features and a more premium looking all black colour scheme thrown in. One big change is the steering-mounted audio controls and overall the interior feels better quality than the WagonR interior. Not to forget the instruments with blue colour. The version that you see here is the top-end Vxi optional (equipped with ABS and airbags, audio controls). Other than this variants there are two more on offer- LXi and VXi.

On the engines front it has the same motor as the one in the current WagonR which means its reasonably quick and pretty efficient. Speaking of efficiency the WagonR Stingray will give 20.5 kmpl (ARAI).

Overall the Maruti WagonR Stingray and is surely value for money with a starting price of Rs 4.09 lakhs. We still think the Ritz comes as a better buy and is worth the extra money.
