Honda has revealed the specifications, features and pricing details of its diesel CR-V which will be sold in UK. The SUV is glorified by media for its environment friendliness and low-fuel consumption. And as always Honda has been pretty successful in positioning the price points well for the market in comparison with European competitors. Indian automobile industry is interested in this launch because the 1.6L i-DTEC diesel motor, which is currently used in Civic in UK and will be part of upcoming CR-V by October, is expected to be rolled out in Indian market as well. As far as Honda’s global portfolio is concerned, this launch is major move.

The 1.6L diesel motor comes from the same Earth Dreams Technology as the 1.5L i-DTEC engine of the entry-level sedan, Amaze. The engine is known for its compactness, low-weight and performance and fuel efficiency. For a 1.6L diesel engine the 300 Nm of torque and 118.4 bhp are impressive figures. Going by the figures mentioned for UK CR-V launch the mileage for this new diesel model is 22.2 kmpl.

Honda CR-V which is currently sold in India is powered by 2.0L and 2.4L petrol engine options. Considering the shift in buyer trend towards SUVs and MUVs, the launch of diesel CR-V can surely heat-up things interesting in Indian market.
