Audi India has appointed Joe King as the new Head of the company, who will take over the role from Michael Perschke (moving to a new role as Head of Network Strategy and Business Management, international level, at AUDI AG). Mr. Perschke as Head of Audi India has played an important role in making Audi a success and happening luxury brand in India. During his tenure in India, Audi sold 9,003 units in 2012, as against 3,003 units in 2010. Also the auto major has expanded its product portfolio and network.
Prior to joining Audi India, Mr. Joe King has played an integral role in the Management team of Audi Australia Pty Ltd. In Audi Australia, he worked as General Manager and Dealer Principal of Audi Centre Sydney (retail subsidiary wholly owned by Audi Australia) and the last four years he was responsible for the development, management and direction of the dealership operations. Mr. Joe King was heading various important roles from finance to sales in BMW Group Australia. His roles in BMW Australia include Managing Director of BMW Sydney, General Manager of Sales, General Manager of Sales at BMW Melbourne and Finance and Insurance Manager. Mr. Joe King completed his education from the University of Melbourne and brings an extensive experience in the automotive industry including retail and wholesale sectors. He had also worked with Toyota.
Audi India has done impressive job with a total sales volume of 5,551 units during the first six months of 2013. Making its product portfolio more attractive, the auto maker has launched the Audi Q3 S Edition (sporty version of its SUV of the Year). It has also plans to expand its dealership network from 27 (existing) to 34 dealerships by the end of this year. Audi dealerships were opened in Bhubaneswar, Mumbai South and Lucknow during the first part of 2013. Audi cars are increasingly becoming popular among young auto customers and fans in India.
