Toyota Corolla Crosses 40 Million Sales

TMC announced the cumulative global sales of Toyota Corolla stood at 40 million units as of July, 2013 and reaching 40.013 million units. Launched as a two-door sedan back in 1966, global cumulative sales for the Corolla reached 1 million units within four years of its launch. In 1997, the car became world’s best selling nameplate with global cumulative sales standing at 22.656 million units.

In 2012, the Toyota Corolla sold 1.161 million units worldwide, selling up to 3,180 units on a daily basis in more than 150 countries and regions. The Corolla accounts for one in five Toyota vehicles sold in its 76 year history, which signifies a great contribution to the development of the auto brand.
