Finally Jaguar has officially revealed its much awaited C-X17 Crossover. The name has 'concept' in it but we are sure sometime in the future you can walk into a jaguar showroom and buy one of these.
This is a new chapter and a new direction for the company and it is quite an important one. At 4,718mm long and 1,649mm tall it is a rakish crossover that will appeal to a lot of people. The design borrows from the various Jaguar's like the grille which is of the Jaguar XJ luxury sedan, while the rear styling is pure Jaguar F-TYPE. Details like the massive 23-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, J-shaped running lights and frosted-glass foglights and Caesium Blue finish really make this an aggressive looking beast.
Inside the C-X17 features four individual bucket seats and the car’s unique roof features contoured vanes that provide a distinctive ‘elliptical’ panoramic view to the C-X17’s passengers. However there are two additional rear-mounted 'leisure seats' incorporated in the boot floor swing out for recreational use.
The design is quite futuristic with Ruthenium, milled aluminium and black brushed anodised metal lending some coolness to the cabin. The C-X17 has an interactive Surface Console which is a series of touchscreens under a continuous panel of transparent acrylic glass, which in along with the secure in-car wi-fi network, helps the vehicle’s passengers to connect via social media.
The Jaguar C-X17 has an all-new aluminium monocoque architecture which is lightweight and extremely stiff.
Jaguar has also announced that in 2015 the first Jaguar to be made from the new architecture will be a new sedan. This will be first aluminium monocoque product in its segment and it will be produced at an all-new production facility in Solihull.
