The first generation Range Rover Sport was a huge success worldwide and ever since its launch the new second generation seems to have taken the world by storm. Now its India's turn to get this new SUV. Yes Land Rover will launch the new Range Rover Sport next month. The new RRS to put it in short is completely new and borrows styling cues from its family including the Evoque and Range Rover.
While the front is clearly Evoque influenced the rear has some Range Rover touches but overall there is no denying that it is the best looking SUV in the Land Rover range. The new Sport is 62mm longer than its predecessor and with a longer wheelbase (increased by 178mm) its more roomier. The new RRS has third row occasional 5+2 'secret' seating (which folds away into the floor).
Inside and out the new Range Rover Sport looks great with a sportier vibe than the more luxury oriented Range Rover. You get a whole lot features including a 12.3-inch high-resolution display technology for the main instruments, 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen display on the centre console, 2-zone climate control plus a choice of three audio systems from Meridian including one with 23 speakers!
There are two engine options available starting with a 510PS 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine and a 3.0-litre diesel V6. The V8 is fun but is for those who have their personal oil reserves so the diesel is the one to have. So then the new RRS is more fun but also more practical plus it will be cheaper than the Range Rover.
