The new Bentley Flying Spur has been launched in India at a price of Rs 3.10 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The last generation model was very successful in bringing together attributes like insane super car like performance and bespoke luxurious interiors. With the new one Bentley has made it more of a limo and made the other models in the range like the Continental GT take care of the sporty bits.
The Continental name has been removed and the new Flying Spur aims to take on the Rolls Royce Ghost plus the new Mercedes S-Class with its top variants (S600) will also be competition. While the new Flying Spur is more mature than before it still has its wild side intact with a massive 6.0-litre, twin turbo W12 engine making an insane 616 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. All this power needs a competent gearbox and the ZF eight-speed transmission is more than up for it. So in other words this is a luxury saloon capable of doing 322 km/h. Gulp.
The styling is more mature and sleeker with a more upright chrome grille which sits between the pairs of jewel-like LED headlamps. The rear styling is completely different and again looks more stately. Inside its proper Bentley meaning stunning attention to detail and top-class materials used (as you would expect at this price). The interior of the new Flying Spur includes 600 new parts, with only the sun visors, grab handles, armrests and some of the front console and controls carried over from the previous generation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Satya Bagla, Managing Director, Exclusive Motors said “We are pleased to launch The New Flying Spur in India; the car is a modern statement of luxury driving and grand touring. The New Flying Spur is faster than most of the 2 door luxury sports car and has taken luxury to a whole new level setting the highest benchmark. Thus, one can enjoy the rare combination of Speed & Luxury with the new model. We are thrilled to launch the New Flying Spur and are confident that the car will receive an overwhelming response from the patrons of luxury.
You can get either four- and five-seat configurations but the more luxurious one is the four seat in which the centre console sweeps from the front to the rear cabin and introduces an additional storage area together with a beautifully crafted stowage case, trimmed in veneer to match the car. We will not go into the feature list because well it is a luxury car and you get pretty much everything and more.
As is with Bentley the lucky bloke buying this car can customise it to his/her individual tastes. So there you go, if you want a mansion on wheels capable of 322 km/h, you know where to head to...
