Hyundai Motor India Limited, India’s 2nd largest car maker, has registered cumulative sales of 51,418 units in September 2013. On the domestic front, the auto major has sold 30,601 units and exported 20,817 units of vehicles in September this year. The domestic sales of Hyundai cars were declined by 0.8 percent and export sales dropped by 8.3 percent, on Y-o-Y basis. As compared to 2012, the cumulative sale of Hyundai has decreased by 4% in 2013.
Commenting on the sales, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, “In the current market scenario volume growth is a big challenge. Last month, we launched our new model Grand in the midst of slowdown and have received phenomenal response from our customers. We expect the market challenges to continue and have a cautious optimism for upcoming festive season.”
The Hyundai Grand i10 which has been the latest launch of Hyundai has been very successful and Hyundai again has successfully managed to find a niche existing between the i20 and the i10 and with new products in the pipeline like a compact SUV, Hyundai expects bigger numbers to come. The future plans of Hyundai include the new Santa Fe among other launches.
