Today is finally the day when BMW launches its new 5 Series and we are at the launch from where we will be giving you live updates. In a nutshell the 5 Series has got a facelift and the styling has been tweaked a bit. The 5 Series along with the 3 Series is BMW's most important car not just in India in terms of sales but all over the world. This generation 5 Series has been hugely successful and this new one builds on that with some small but significant improvements.
In terms of styling changes the new 5 Series has additional contour lines for the surround of the BMW kidney grille and newly structured lower air intakes and at the rear there is an addition of an extra crease plus more chrome. It features adaptive LED headlights and 'L' shaped tail-lights.
Inside the control display of its iDrive has its border finished in chrome and also storage has been improved. Electric glass sun-roof is standard across all variants. The engine line-up has been unchanged with the six cylinder and four cylinder diesels along with the smooth 8-speed auto.
However there is now a raft of fuel saving technology on board. The BMW 530d M Sport has a TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder diesel engine making 258 bhp and 540 Nm of torque. This means it will go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. The 218 bhp 525d and 184 bhp 520d are also there.
