The design team at Audi, the German auto giant, has created a fully virtual car for the movie adaption of the novel “Ender’s Game”. The fictional vehicle, called the Fleet Shuttle Quattro, is the first time Audi has revealed a completely virtual car.
The car looks like no other Audi we’ve ever seen before, not even the futuristic Audi TT that appeared in the Will Smith movie “I, Robot” some years ago. The entire top portion of the car seems to be made of glass, the wheels look more like components that belong to a spacecraft rather than a car, but the front and rear of the Shuttle Fleet Quattro are distinctively Audi.
Audi collaborated with film director Gavin Hood to digitally develop and integrate the Fleet Shuttle Quattro into the movie plot, which is set in the future. “We adapted it to the requirements of the world in Ender’s Game and at the same time had to take care to preserve our brand values”, said Frank Rimli, the film project’s chief designer.
The Ender’s Game movie is based on an award winning novel going by the same name and it features some very well known stars such as Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin.
The plot revolves around the premise that in the near future, earth has been attacked by an alien civilisation and in order to defend against the imminent further attacks, a brilliant youngster is chosen to lead soldiers into a war that will ascertain the future of the Earth and the human race.
