Austria is known for its beautiful Alpine scenery and peaceful towns. The Austrian bike-maker KTM however, makes bikes that are the exact opposite of that image! KTM is rather new in India and their Duke series of motorcycles have had bike lovers here in a tizzy with their stellar performance.
The biggest and most powerful KTM bike on sale in India is the 373cc, 43 hp Duke 390. Weighing in at less than 150kg, this bike delivers exceptionally powerful performance and highly nimble handling. So far, it was available in India only in a white and orange colour scheme.
Additionally, KTM is now offering the bike in a black and orange paint job as well. This colour scheme will initially be offered only in the foreign markets but since the Duke 390 is put together at Bajaj Auto’s manufacturing facility at Chakan in Maharashtra, one can expect it to be made available for India in the near future as well.
This new paint job is the only aspect of the bike that changes as everything else remains the same. The bike still retains the same engine, the same 6 speed transmission, ABS and design as the white and orange Duke 390. KTM is also planning to bring its more focussed range of Duke-based RC motorbikes. Since these bikes will also be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s plant, it is a fairly logical presumption that they will be sharing components with the upcoming Pulsar 200 SS and Pulsar 375.
