Face-Lifted BMW Z4 Launched in India

By   |   14 November,2013

India has just said hello to the latest BMW Z4 roadster. This car has been turning heads with its splendid looks and growling engine ever since it was launched in India a few years ago. Motor Trend India reported that the roll out of the new Z4 was imminent and we now have more details for you.

The new, face-lifted Z4 roadster comes with mostly minor updates such as –

• Remodelled headlight cluster and grille

• Redesigned bumpers

• New alloy wheels

• Chromed gills on the sides next to the BMW logo turn indicators

• The interior also gets modifications but these are also very slight changes

The Z4 version that BMW was selling us was called the sDrive35i. But now, the German auto maker will also add to the line-up with the Z4 sDrive35i Design Pure Traction. This version gets some more additional features over the regular car in the form of interior trims. The engine powering the Z4 is a 3.0 litre, 6 cylinder, twin turbocharged direct injection engine that produces 302 bhp; to which a 7 speed, dual clutch, automatic transmission is connected. This roadster can leap from 0-100 kph in 5.1 seconds and go all the way to a top speed of 250 kph.

The previous Z4 did draw some flak because of its electromechanical, speed sensitive power steering and unfortunately, this steering setup will remain unaltered on the new Z4. Nevertheless, the Z4 was always a delight to drive, especially when the Dynamic Stability Control was disengaged, and the new car will be exactly the same, if not better.

Indians will be able to procure this new roadster for a slightly higher amount than the outgoing model but it will remain to be seen whether the new BMW Z4 can knock the crown off the current, undisputed king of the segment – the fantastic Porsche Boxster S.
