Turbocharging is indeed the future as it brings in numerous benefits like increased performance without sacrificing on fuel economy. Honda has developed a new range of turbo petrol engines which is the new addition to the Earth Dreams Technology. So what you get is Honda's VTEC along with direct injection turbocharging with highly-fluidized combustion and a thorough reduction in engine friction.
The engine sizes vary from a 2.0 L, 1.5 L and 1.0 L engine. The 2.0 litre engine is a 4-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine with a a high-performance cooling system. The power output is 280 bhp while complying with EURO 6, European emission standards which will become effective in 2014. The engines that will get excited are the 1.5 L 4-cylinder direct injection turbo engine and the 1.0 L 3-cylinder direct injection turbo engine.
The 1.0 L engine just like the EcoBoost in the Ford EcoSport will be efficient without sacrificing fuel economy and will be very important for our markets.
In India thanks to its new diesel engine the Honda Amaze has been very successful but going forward with new products like the new Honda City coming these new technologies are crucial.
