If you love cars then you would know what an icon the original Mini was and today a new modern day iteration has been revealed in form of the new 2014 Mini. The new Mini made its worldwide debut yesterday at MINI’s UK production plant in Oxford. A lot has been changed but it seems the basic recipe has been kept intact. This is a new Mini with new vehicular architecture, new design and a new range of engines.
Design wise while it may look similar to the current one from far away it is indeed new. When it comes to dimensions the length increased by 98 millimetres, width by 44 millimetres, height by 7 millimetres. There is a longer wheelbase and a larger track. From a design point of view you will like the new headlamps and now there are optional LED's.
The hexagonal radiator grille is bigger and the headlamps and rear light clusters with wide chrome surround. You have five exterior colour choices with roof in contrasting colour available as an option at no extra charge. There are three engine options available though for India the 192 bhp Mini Cooper S seems the best option though the 3-cylinder diesel engine can also come.
Transmission options include a 6-speed manual though again we will get the 6-speed automatic transmission or sports automatic transmission. Inside there is the much loved retro styling but with a load of toys. A 4-line TFT display is standard and a colour display up to 8.8 inches in size is optional plus you get a whole lot more stuff like a rear view camera etc. We expect the India debut to happen around late next year. The Mini will compete with other stylish hatches like the Mercedes A-Class.
