The newest cat from Jaguar, the coupé version of the F-Type, has debuted at Raleigh Studios in Los Angeles, USA, and we had reported of the F-Type’s impending launch earlier. The first shufti the crowd got of the car was as it accelerated towards them and then vanished below the grandstand into a hidden tunnel with a tremendous V8 roar.
The vehicle in question was the 542 bhp F Type R coupé. With its 5.0 litre supercharged V8 engine, the car can catapult from 0-100 kph in 4 seconds and go on to a limited top speed of 300 kph. The range also includes the F Type S coupé, driven by a 375 bhp, 3.0 litre, supercharged V6 engine and the F Type coupé that is powered by a 335 bhp, 3.0 litre, supercharged V6 engine. The F Type S coupé and the F Type coupé can go from a standstill to 100 kph in 4.8 seconds and 5.1 seconds, and hit top speeds of 275 kph and 259 kph respectively.
Commenting on the occasion, Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar said, "Creating a sports Coupé is the purest of design tasks, and also the most challenging; get it right and aesthetically the result will be as dynamic as the car should be rewarding to drive. In F-Type Coupé, I believe we've got it right”.
It is also worth knowing that the F-Type convertible is the winner of the World Car Design of the Year 2013 award.
