Mercedes-Benz has shown the world their take on a high performance, compact SUV at the ongoing Los Angeles International Auto Show in California, USA. The car looks bold with all its muscular design elements that look they’re straining to burst free.
The GLA45 AMG will be powered by a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder engine. But don’t let that fool you; because this diminutive, turbocharged motor packs a real punch and delivers 360 bhp of power and 450 Nm of torque. This power will be channelled to the wheels through an AMG Speedshift DCT 7 speed sports automatic transmission and the AMG 4-matic all wheel drive system.
The car certainly looks the part as well with its red brake callipers, glossy black front splitter, large cooling ducts, Turbo AMG badging, roof rails and massive rear spoiler. But since the engine is so small and efficiently managed, the car complies with the Euro 6 emission norms and should return a fuel economy figure of around 13 kpl, which is extremely impressive for a performance oriented car such as the GLA45 AMG.
Mercedes-Benz intends to target the young, urban youth and with the GLA45 AMG, it would seem that they have got the recipe spot on.
