We are at the unveiling of the all new Honda City in Delhi and today is the day when we finally get to know the details of this new sedan. Quite a lot has been talked about and through our earlier reports we have spoken in detail about what you can expect.
This is an important new model from Honda and after the success of the Honda Amaze, Honda now wants to conquer other segments of the market. It remains to be seen how Honda will position it but since the new Honda City will have both diesel and petrol variants, we expect it to plug the big gap between the Accord and the Amaze. We have now heard bookings are being accepted with deliveries starting in January end next year.
Honda has not revealed any numbers including its efficiency figures or the power outputs as it will reveal them closer to launch. The car has been designed to maximise interior space. Although its length and width are the same as the outgoing model, it's 10mm taller and features a 50mm longer wheelbase. On the inside, a layered floating cockpit aims at making driving easier and more relaxed. The controls and interface is designed to mimic a smartphone for quicker operation.
Focusing on the role and importance of Honda City for HCIL’s business, Mr Hironori Kanayama, President & CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “With the unveiling of the all new City, we enter a new era of Honda’s dominance in premium cars. City brand has been the face of Honda in India, enjoying strong leadership and popularity in its segment ever since its launch. India has been the focus market for Honda City, thus it was befitting to have the global unveiling of the All New Honda City in India.”
“There has been very high anticipation amongst the Honda loyalists who have been eagerly waiting for the 4th Generation City and introduction of Diesel in the model. We are sure that the car will further strengthen the bond with our esteemed customers,” he added.
