Italian car maker Fiat has pulled the sheet off the new Fiat Ottimo. This car is the hatchback version of China market Fiat Viaggio or as customers in the North American continent will know it, the Dodge Dart.
The vehicle was displayed at the 2013 Guangzhou International Auto Show and will be put on sale at the beginning of next year in China. The car features a very dynamic and ‘built for the youngsters’ looking grille and bumpers. The headlights though have been lifted straight off the Dodge Dart. Fiat also has modified the rear end of the car, especially the taillight cluster and the rear bumper.
From some angles, the car does bear a resemblance to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and that isn’t a bad thing. On the inside, the dashboard remains the same as the Viaggio but there aren’t many other major changes. Fiat has not announced what engines the Ottimo will come equipped with but it could be a similar version of those found under the hood of the Fiat Viaggio, which are 2 different versions of a 1.4 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged engines that generates either 120 hp or 150 hp. These engines, in the Fiat Viaggio, are mated to either a 5 speed manual gearbox or a 6 speed DCT automatic transmission.
At the moment, there are no confirmed plans of the Fiat Ottimo being put on sale in car markets outside China but just in case this car comes to India, Fiat will have one more hot hatch in its arsenal to fight alongside the Fiat Punto.
