We told you about the SUV launches a few days ago and now it is the time for sedans. This year has been about compact SUVs and some car-makers even have shelved plans of launching a sedan and instead focus on launching SUVs. However there will be many sedans launching at the Auto Expo 2014 and catering to different budgets too!
Maruti New SX4 (YL1)
This has been spotted testing quite frequently and at the Auto Expo 2014 there will be the new SX4 there. Other than the name nothing is similar to the current Maruti SX4 and design wise it is a huge jump. This has been done to make it more up-market than before. It will be better looking and more luxurious too. It will have the same diesel and petrol engines as the Ertiga and just like the new Honda City expect a big jump in equipment levels.
New Toyota Corolla
What you are seeing here is a miniature Camry and that should be good news as the new Corolla is more premium than before. The looks are the biggest improvement and gone are those drab lines replaced by a striking front-end. It will continue to have the positives of the current car including superb rear legroom and excellent ride quality. The new Corolla will be better equipped and though the engines will not change, the new Corolla will be a tough rival for the likes of the new Skoda Octavia.
Mercedes CLA and S-Class
By the Auto Expo the new Mercedes S-Class would have been unveiled but launch will be only in 2014. The new S-Class as we have said earlier is a quantum leap over the current one and is just stunning, dripping with new tech. The big Mercedes unveil however will be the CLA. This one just like the GLA will be a massive volumes generator for Mercedes. Looking more like a 4-door coupe rather than a saloon the CLA looks gorgerous and is a saloon version of the A-Class.
BMW 3 Series GT
Is this a sedan? Well this is not the ususal stuff you are expecting but that is the USP of the 3 GT. Cheaper than the 5 Series GT which came to India in limited numbers, the new 3GT is more spacious/ practical than the 3 series sedan. It would be more expensive than the sedan though but will be cheaper than the 5 series sedan.
Audi A3 Sedan
Just like the CLA Audi will showcase the sedan version of its A3 hatch. It is smaller than the A4 but not short on the luxury factor as the interior is just as luxurious/ well built as any other Audi. It will have a diesel engine and a petrol plus of course it will be the most affordable Audi saloon.
Hyundai Grand i10 Compact sedan
This should not be a surprise considering how much of a success the Maruti Dzire has been. The sedan version will be under 4 metre as always and things like interior will be the same compared to the Grand i10 hatch. The diesel will also be the same one found and expect Hyundai to price it aggressively.
New Honda City 2014
Just unveiled the new Honda City will of course be there and by that time the pricing and specs would have been revealed. Deliveries of the new City will start next year plus Honda could also showcase their new Accord.
Audi will launch the facelifted A8 luxury sedan with even more space and tech this time while Skoda will showcase the Superb facelift with new styling and minor interior updates.
The arrival of new competition has meant that the timing of the facelift Elantra is perfect too, it has a new grille, new bumper and more features. Ford and Fiat will show the facelifted Fiesta and Linea too and both of these cars will get a new lease of life. Renault will bring its much awaited Fluence facelift and the show and Skoda will also surprise us with the Rapid update. Volkswagen could also show the updated Passat.
The big news is the Tata Manza successor and it will be more futuristic/ better looking than before with a big focus on style. It will be spacious and well equipped too.
So there you go these are the expected sedan launches coming your way to the Auto Expo 2014, stay tuned!
