Leading automobile magazines in India, who constitute the jury of Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY), along with JK Tyre presented the most prominent awards of the Indian automotive industry – the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and the Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) 2014 at New Delhi.
The Indian Car of the Year trophy was awarded to the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Indian Motorcycle of the Year trophy was presented to the Royal Enfield Continental GT by Arun Bajoria, President & Director, JK Tyre & Industries Limited along with Girish Karkera, Editor BBC Top Gear India & Chairman ICOTY and Vikrant Singh, Executive Editor, Overdrive & Chairman IMOTY.
These awards are an expert and independent judgment of the best new car and motorbike. They intend to recognise consistent efforts made by vehicle manufacturers with the highest levels of performance in the areas of design, innovation and R&D. The nominated cars and bikes are judged on a variety of factors such as price, fuel economy, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality, technical innovation, value for money and suitability for Indian driving conditions. Out of all the vehicles released in 2013, only 17 qualified for the ICOTY and IMOTY awards. Moreover, out of these 17, only 9 made it to the final shortlist.
